Dr. Wes Peterson

Executive Pastor

What is your role at HOPE, in your own words?

As the Executive Pastor, I serve in the space where strategy meets shepherding. On the “executive” side, I lead teams, plan for the future, steward resources, and help keep us aligned with HOPE’s mission. On the “pastor” side, I care deeply about the spiritual growth of our people—encouraging staff, listening well, and helping create an environment where leaders and ministries can thrive.

What’s your favorite verse/passage of scripture and why?

In a world filled with noise, confusion, and competing paths, Jesus offers stunning clarity and gives us exactly what we need, Himself. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6

What year did you start coming to HOPE? Working at HOPE?

2017.

What’s something that brings you joy?

I find joy in spontaneous day trips with my wife. We pick a new destination and enjoy the journey, stopping at coffee shops, appreciating new experiences, and just being together.

What’s your go-to comfort food or coffee order?

Anything from Shyndigz. If you haven’t tried it yet, buckle up! Their cake is basically a full-immersion experience. Pair it with a coffee, and suddenly the world feels like a better place.

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

I’d become an expert pilot. Flying is my favorite mode of transportation, and there’s something about the freedom of exploring from above that draws me in.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I suffer from Directional Orientation Deficiency (totally made-up term), which is a fancy way of saying I’d be driving in circles without Apple Maps. I even keep an old-school Rand McNally atlas, just in case!
