Tyler Paulin

Ministry Resident

What is your role at HOPE, in your own words?

As the Outreach Resident, I’m a part of the Outreach and Discipleship Team. A big goal is to foster strong and lasting relationships with local and global partners. This includes partnering with people here in Richmond, as well as around the world. Locally, I participate in and help leadership with events like Alpha, Life on Mission classes, and Hope Goes activities. Globally, I will join Short-Term Trip planning and trips to better gauge what missions look like and what it means to be on mission with God.

What’s your favorite verse/passage of scripture and why?

Jeremiah 29:11-13 has really helped me through some tough seasons of my life. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

It reminds me that the Lord is still faithful and working in my life even when things are uncertain or hard. It also helps me remain obedient and keep my eyes upward to where the Lord is calling me to go.

What’s something that brings you joy?

I love sports and exercising! My mind always feels much clearer after getting a good workout in.

What’s your go-to comfort food or coffee order?

The Stouffer’s Grandma’s Chicken and Vegetable Rice Bake is definitely a comfort food of mine. It reminds me of my childhood and is also a great bang for your buck!

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

Learning the guitar! I’ve always wanted to be able to play instruments but haven’t really given it the time or patience yet.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I took 3 years of Japanese language courses during college. Though I’d say my fluency is conversational at best…
