Kelly Pious

Managing Director

What is your role at HOPE, in your own words?

I lead the teams that work mostly behind the scenes at HOPE to help our ministries share Jesus with as many people as possible.

What’s your favorite verse/passage of scripture and why?

A scripture passage that feels particularly important in my current stage of life is Deuteronomy 6:5-9:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

My husband and I are in the “middle years” of raising three children and these verses remind me that the work imparting our faith to them should happen as part of the daily activities of our family life.

What year did you start coming to HOPE? Working at HOPE?

I’ve been attending HOPE since 2003 and started working here in 2022.

What’s something that brings you joy?

I have a lot of large flower beds and enjoy seeing what blooms in each season.

What’s your go-to comfort food or coffee order?

In the fall and winter, I like a bowl of homemade soup and have a rotation of several favorites.

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

I’d love to be talented in fine arts – painting or drawing.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I spent 10 years of my childhood living (and working!) on my family’s black angus beef cattle farm in southwest Virginia.
