Heather Beckmann

Lodge Ministry Coordinator

What is your role at HOPE, in your own words?

I help to make the Lodge a vibrant place on Sunday mornings by coordinating, training, recruiting, and supporting volunteers at the Lodge.

What’s your favorite verse/passage of scripture and why?

It is honestly tough to choose. Hebrews 4:15, “because we don’t have a high priest who can’t sympathize with our weaknesses but instead one who was tempted in every way that we are, except without sin,” is a meaningful one. Basically, I love any verses that show how Jesus understands what it is to be human – to grieve, to have loss, to love, to give, to hope, to not give up. I really appreciate that we don’t follow a God who is far away.

What year did you start coming to HOPE? Working at HOPE?

Our family started coming to HOPE in late 2014 and I came on staff in Spring of 2017.

What’s something that brings you joy?

Sunsets, plants, reading, good conversation with friends.

What’s your go-to comfort food or coffee order?

Black tea and dark chocolate or cookies. Also any form of potato.

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

Cooking! It is not my thing, but it would be very handy to be a good cook.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I played soccer for 18 years and spent a semester in Scotland in college.
