Amanda Danson

Special Needs Lead

What is your role at HOPE, in your own words?

I oversee the Special Needs ministry and ministry and have the privilege of walking alongside kids, students, adults, and parents, helping to ensure that all people are able to experience life and purpose through Jesus Christ.

What’s your favorite verse/passage of scripture and why?

“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6: 24-26

I love this passage because it displays the thoughtful and attentive character of God. I am comforted by the idea of a God who cares enough to look at me and also give me His peace.

What’s something that brings you joy?

I have two little kids, and it is a joy to watch them experience the world through little eyes and get excited by things we often overlook. In my free time, I love to do puzzles, logic games, and explore local coffee shops and bakeries.

What’s your go-to comfort food or coffee order?

I am an iced coffee girl- with honey and cinnamon! However, I do love Starbucks pumpkin-cream chai in the fall.

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

I wish I was fluent in ASL and Spanish- maybe one day!

What’s something people might not know about you?

I have a twin sister! Whenever this comes up in conversation, people always say “I didn’t know you were a twin!”

Also, before coming to RVA, I completed my admin degree to be a licensed K-12 principal!
