We don't want finances to be a reason that a student can not attend Winter Weekend. There is scholarship available and it is our joy to offer it to families. The first step is to register your student and select "Yes" for scholarship. When you get to the payment option, choose "Pay Later." Our team will then be in contact for the next steps in the scholarship process.

WINTER WEEKEND FAQs

TRANSPORTATION: How will my student get to Winter Weekend? Is there a Late Van?

We will be leaving from Hope Church in a 55 passenger buses driven by our favorite Winn Transportation bus drivers and traveling to Northbay together. The same bus will bring them home and information about departure and arrival times will be shared closer to the weekend. Seniors have a special perk and will ride in 15 passenger vans driven by vetted adult leaders.  Also, there will be a late van leaving and this need must be communicated to the student team as early as possible.  We do not allow students to drive themselves to camp if they cannot make either departure times.  A parent is welcome to drive them to Northbay but this must be confirmed with the Students Team.

ROOMING: Can my student stay with their friend?

All lodging will be separated by gender and grade.  Male and Female housing are on different sides of the Northbay property.  We are in cabins in which each room houses around 12 people. If a small group is larger than 12, we will house them in multiple cabin rooms. Our entire group will be together for meals, activities, and teaching/worship time. Each room will have leaders assigned – most will be the current small group leaders or former interns.  All adults are vetted and background checked that attend Winter Weekend.

TECHNOLOGY: My child is nervous about not having phone access. Can they keep their device?

There are many reasons why not having phones, devices, and smart watches is a good idea for Winter Weekend. Our best practice is to limit this connection to the internet due to its nature of easy access to unhealthy content. Our past attendees also will overwhelmingly say that not being tethered to a device throughout the weekend made the experience richer and more meaningful. And probably most obvious is the fact that camp is high energy, fun activity experience and the risk of loss or damage to a device in the pocket or on the wrist is high. All parents will have emergency contact numbers of HOPE staff if parent/child need to be connected.
