What is your role at HOPE, in your own words?
I lead a team that helps people find meaningful community at HOPE, to help them grow to be more like Jesus.
What’s your favorite verse/passage of scripture and why?
I have lots of favorite passages! One I’m holding onto right now is Psalm 27: 1: “The LORD is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?” I love this verse because it reminds me that everything I’ll ever need is found in Christ alone. I don’t need to worry or fear when the world seems out of control or the future is uncertain. He is over all and loves His children — we can trust Him to be with us no matter what.
What year did you start coming to HOPE? Working at HOPE?
Came to HOPE in 2008, joined staff in 2013.
What’s something that brings you joy?
Catching up with my adult children over a meal.
What’s your go-to comfort food or coffee order?
Homemade chicken pot pie.
If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
Quantum physics. I’m geek-level obsessed with the possibility of time travel.
What’s something people might not know about you?
I had a very thick Appalachian accent until I was in high school. I wanted to go into broadcast journalism so I consciously lost my twang.
