What is your role at HOPE, in your own words?
I prepare the Sunday morning experience for the birth through Pre-K age group in Hope Kids. I adapt and prepare all of the curriculum and materials for the rooms, and am the main large group teacher for the 3-5 year olds. I partner closely with families for everyday life and milestone events and help equip them to begin the foundation of their child’s faith journey.
What’s your favorite verse/passage of scripture and why?
1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
I love the idea that there is no junior Holy Spirit! The same spirit of God that lived in David and Jonah and Esther and Jacob and Moses is the same spirit that lives in us. The youngest of our kids are learning to love others like Jesus and understand their faith even now.
What year did you start coming to HOPE? Working at HOPE?
I started coming to HOPE in June of 2021 and joined staff in August of 2021.
What’s something that brings you joy?
I started crocheting a couple years ago and it brings me so much joy! I love doing something where it feels like I can turn my brain off. Making mini animals is my favorite, but I also love to make hats and blankets!
What’s your go-to comfort food or coffee order?
My go-to food order is large fry and large Diet Coke from McDonalds. My coffee order is always a vanilla cold brew.
If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
I wish I could make all my own clothes. I want to instantly be able to make something that fits great, feels comfortable, and isn’t super expensive.
What’s something people might not know about you?
I was in band from middle school all through college. I was in the marching band in high school and also marched at Old Dominion University. High school band is how my husband and I started dating!
